It's a brave new world at the intersection of technology and social change, with revolutions happening all around us, every day. From campaigns to end violence and hate speech against women to the Arab Spring to movements demanding racial equity, we can see the promise – and sometimes, the peril – that digital activism can bring.

Deanna Zandt will discuss the impact we're making, and the challenges we face, as we make change by sharing. How we choose to connect to one another has the potential to create deeply felt, powerful empathy, and that emotional resonance is the fundamental building block for shifting cultural consciousness.

Deanna Zandt is a media technologist and speaker.  She has advised the White House on digital strategy and public engagement.  In 2012, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America awarded Deanna their first-ever social media Maggie Award for Media Excellence for her work on the Planned Parenthood Saved Me Tumblr blog during the Susan G. Komen crisis.

Her book is entitled, Share This!  How You Will Change the World with Social Networking.

Registration will open at the beginning of winter quarter.
