The Sex-Inclusion Toolbox is a collection of information and resources which facilitate and support the study of sex-based research. As of 2016, NIH-funded investigators are required to consider sex as a biological variable within their research strategy. The Sex-Inclusion Toolbox is designed to inform and educate researchers on this policy and assist in the development of compliant research strategies.

In addition, the Toolbox highlights research which examines sex in the context of health and disease. It contains a database of video lectures, scholarly articles, blogs, and organizations which examine sex as a variable, organized by discipline or subspecialty.
