Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and other symptoms vary for every woman in menopause. So a new website seeks to personalize care.

Northwestern University's Women's Health Research Institute Tuesday unveiled an online tool for menopausal and pre-menopausal women to navigate treatments options at their "Celebrating Women's Health" forum, hosted during national Women's Health Week.

The website allows you to enter your own symptoms and monitor options and research targeted for them.

Menopause, which marks the end of menstruation and fertility, most often affects women in their 40s and 50s. Symptoms often include hot flashes, mood changes and weight gain, according to the Mayo Clinic. Hormone treatments are sometimes used to lessen symptoms, but experts are divided on the effectiveness and safety of hormone therapies.

The online tool shares updated information on new research and provide personalized recommendations to support women's health transitions during and after menopause. The website is in beta-testing and will be available in coming weeks.

Hundreds of women gathered for a forum on Women's Health at Prentice Women's Hospital. Presentations from researchers and health vendors covered diet, integrative medicine and a host of other topics as well as menopause.
